Our cabinets are used in a wide variety of applications involving moisture removal and dry storage. The main industrial sector that installs Mekko cabinets is the electronics manufacturing industry, where components and substrates must be protected from the damaging effects of moisture.

It allows compliance with IPC/JEDEC D-STD-033 standards, which details recommendations for the handling, shipping and use of surface mount devices sensitive to moisture and melt.

If surface mount components absorb ambient moisture, and are then exposed to high temperatures, such as in remelting furnaces (convention, infrared, vapor phase or hot air repair tools), then the absorbed moisture expands rapidly, causing internal stresses in the devices. The resulting stresses can cause internal or external cracking, delamination and internal corrosion.

Eliminate the “popcorn” effect and micro-cracking of ICs and BGAs during reflow by using Active Desiccant storage and drying for components instead of baking, and drying the components, which resets the in-plant time clock of the components to zero.

Active Desiccant booths are the best solution for storage and drying.

Our booths are equipped with a new desiccant rotor system that incorporates our “MTX-Flow” technology. This new development is more efficient and faster than our competitors. This unit is installed inside the booth to maintain internal humidity between 1% and 3% of relative humidity.

Benefits of the Active Desiccant system:

– No need for anti-humidity bags, nitrogen or compressed air.

– Less complicated than baking: reduces oxidation.

– Can use low temperature packaging.

– Suitable to meet IPC/JEDEC J-STD-033C standard.

– Internal temperature and humidity dials included.

– No “off” time. Desiccant will always be absorbing moisture.

– Desiccant is permanently self-healing at the molecular level.

– Fast recovery time after door opening (2 minutes).

– Very accurate humidity dial: +/- 1% relative humidity (usually +/- 3% in our competitors!).
